Dear Friends,
It’s been one year since I launched my Substack newsletter, and you have journeyed with me as I’ve mused on photography, unpacked my work, and interviewed colleagues. Thank you. Many of you support me with a paid subscription and I am incredibly grateful; you have helped make this writing possible and accessible.
Before I embark on year two, I am going to pause posting momentarily to regroup and develop some new content. There are a few reasons for this. After moving back to Australia at the end of 2021, my journey has been a more personal one than an outward and professional one. I’ve also been busy with assignments that have not been published, or my own work has not yet percolated in my mind. Last month I got COVID, which really knocked me out. I need some time to catch up.
In the next chapter I will continue to share the process of my book project about identity and colonial legacy in the Australian bush - making the work, but also editing and conceptualizing the book with a publisher. I’ve also embarked on some advertising work and plan on writing about this workflow. And I am going to rebrand my newsletter, so stay tuned for a new look and feel. Finally, I write now from an airplane as I make my way to Ukraine to photograph the war devastating the country and its people, and undoing a sense of peace around the world. I’ll share this story.
After a break to integrate all this, I’ll start publishing again. All billing for paid subscriptions will be paused until then. I’m excited to share the next chapter of my work with you.
Love,
Adam
A book!! Can't wait to see that. Safe Travels.
Travel safely Adam. What an awful task ahead of you. Send love from Australia & keep some in your heart for yourself too. Stay well, stay safe.
