G’day Adam, Thanks for taking the time to do these posts. For me, as an older Bachelor of Photography student, I am appreciating not just seeing your images, but the how and why as well.
Was she happy to be photographed? I find it difficult at times to juggle the need to tell the story and not making life harder for the subject themselves particularly when it’s a child. I’m not suggesting she did it against her will be rather did you get much time to take the portrait?
Hi Nick, she was happy to be photographed. We made a bit of a game out of it. Although she would lose interest quickly and take off. I visited the family three times, so had ample time. I think if I turned up with a short window of time it may have been a different scenario - and I probably wouldn't have made the photo I wanted to take, or had to rush which could have been stressful for Hediya.
